Year 4P and 4H have been reading ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes.
We have learned about simile and alliteration.
Bedsteads and bikes, like burgers and bacon,
Brown bikes like breakfast.
Chewy cars, chomp, chomp, chomp,
Chomping cars like chocolate bars!
Excellent engines,
Eat them like eggs.
Full, frozen fridges.
Great, grey and green gates and girders.
Pans packed in a pile.
Stolen stoves as big as stones.
Super, stretchy springs and stoves.
TREMENDOUS, TASTY TRUCKS!
Metallic Munching by Y4H
At last they came to the town and there was a great scrap-metal yard. Everything was there…
Crumbling crashed cars,
Clink,clink.
Silent sticky springs,
Clink,clink.
Gigantic grey gates,
Clink,clink.
Expensive empty engines,
Clink,clink.
Perfectly polished pans,
Clink,clink.
Smelly sooty stoves,
Clink,clink.
Tremendously tasty trucks,
Clink,clink.
Fragile frozen fridges,
Clink,clink.
Bouncy black bedsteads,
Clink,clink.
And a chewy cheap Chinese chain.
“There,” cried Hogarth.”Eat all you can!”
